Food Safety

At Mount Adams Fruit the safest, highest quality fresh fruit is our priority.

We are committed to supplying responsibly farmed and processed fruit that meets or exceeds industry standards.

Our Food Safety Program consists of the following components:

GOOD AGRICULTURAL PRACTICES (GAP)

A collection of principles to apply for on-farm production and post-production processes results in safe and healthy food and non-food agricultural products, while taking into account economical, social and environmental sustainability.

INTEGRATED PEST MANAGEMENT (IPM)

An ecosystem approach to crop production and protection that combines different management strategies and practices to grow healthy crops and minimize the use of pesticides. Mount Adams Fruit has an in-house entomology expert who works full time on IPM.

HAZARD ANALYSIS RISK-BASED PREVENTIVE CONTROLS (HARPC)

Derived from HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) principals, the HARPC system breaks down and analyzes each step of a process to identify where hazards can be introduced, or how the risk of hazards can be reduced or controlled in order to produce the safest possible product. In addition to internal audit scrutiny, the Mount Adams Frui Food Safety and Quality Control Program is subjected to annual 3rd party inspection to current SQF Code Requirements. We, along with UFC, have maintained SQF 2000 Level III (GFSI-benchmarked audit scheme) Food Safety and Quality Management Certification since 2007.

Mount Adams Fruit’s Food Safety Department conducts daily ATP testing to verify that standard sanitation operating procedures are being executed as designed. Weekly environmental monitoring samples are collected and tested on-site in an effort to seek out and destroy bacteria and microbial harborage sites. A 3rd party lab is used for source and process water testing and for occasional environmental monitoring tests to compare to our internal results.

Daily inspections are conducted on-site by the WA State Department of Agriculture and our own Internal Quality Control Team helps to ensure we are shipping safe, quality fresh fruit that meet established grade standards.

FOOD TRACEABILITY

At the forefront of the industry, Mount Adams Fruit has continually developed tracking and logging systems for precise management of goods throughout our facility all the way to our customers. Maintaining a fleet of forklifts fitted with computers and barcode readers ensures accuracy throughout the process and enables us to trace a box back to the lot if necessary. Secure traceability has, and always will be, a top priority of Mount Adams Fruit.
